Marie is the eldest daughter of former Prime Minister Dominque de Villepin. Instead of a career in economics, she decided to pursue modeling in New York. Aside from her political connection, her first claim to fame came from appearing in the October 2005 American issue of ELLE.
Marie has also been in several acting roles. As a child she appeared in and in the movie "La Bûche" (1998), and in the French television miniseries "Les Rois maudits" (2005).
In 2006, she was chosen by Givenchy as the new face of their perfume Angel or Demon.
Marie models under the alias of Marie Steiss to escape some of the attention of her namesake.
