May has modeled on the catwalk and in print campaigns for BCBG, J.Crew and Victoria's Secret, to name but a few, and received immense exposure after being featured in Sports Illustrated's Swimsuit Issues for 2003 and 2004.

In April of 2006, May was arrested for hitting a flight attendant on a flight from Amsterdam to Miami. May was taken to hospital to check for signs of alcohol or drug abuse, then booked into county jail.
