Shirley has graced the covers of many fashion magazines including the Australian Marie Claire, the Brazilian Vogue and Elle, and the Portuguese and US Cosmopolitan. Shirley was also featured in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition in 2001.

Shirley has done advertisements for Barely There lingerie, Bebe, Bisou-Bisou, Chanel 'Allure' perfume, Christian Dior, and Nine West to name a few. She also appeared in the Pirelli calendar and was chosen by US TV channel E! as 1999 Celebrity of the Year.
